This immense archive of over 170.000 photographs is a unique account of economic, political, sport, cultural and everyday life in socialist Poland of the 1950s and the 1960s. They are the life’s work of photographer Eustachy Kossakowski. The collection contains press reportages created in cooperation with socio-cultural magazines, documentation of artistic life including exhibitions, happenings, installations, theatre spectacles and environment art, as well as the social life of artists. The archive also includes conceptual photography projects, which brought Kossakowski recognition in France in 1970s.

Everyday Life in Southwest Bulgaria during Socialism

This fascinating collection sheds insight on generally unknown moments of everyday life in southwest Bulgaria during state socialism, including: the experience of and resistance against collectivization; experiences reflecting the religious policy of the communist regime (e.g. towards Muslims) and others elements of everyday life. The collection is one of the first created by the Balkan Society for Autobiography and Social Communication - Blagoevgrad (BSASC). It mainly consists of oral histories and photographic documentation, which aim to share ordinary people's experience of socialism.

Alltag Ost. Ein Digitaler Reiseführer in den Alltag der DDR

Der digitale Reiseführer in den Alltag der DDR ist ein Projekt, das 2017 vom Berliner Medienverband 'Kooperative Berlin' in Zusammenarbeit mit der Bundesstiftung 'Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur' ins Leben gerufen wurde. Das Ziel des Projektes ist es eine digitale Führung durch die DDR zu erstellen, die Orte in der gesamten ehemaligen DDR einschließt. Das Projekt gibt Aufschluss über eine Vielzahl von Orten die mit tolerierten oder verbotenen Aktivitäten assoziiert wurden die das tägliche Leben im DDR-Regime beeinflussten. Die interaktive Plattform wurde mit dem Ziel gegründet Touristen die Möglichkeit zu geben etwas über Orte zu erfahren die weniger bekannt sind aber trotzdem einen wichtigen Einblick ins Alltagsleben und die Geschichte der DDR bieten.

Exchange Gallery

The Exchange Gallery was established by the artist, movie-maker and animator Józef Robakowski, in 1978 in his private flat in Łódź. Throughout the next decade, the Exchange Gallery became one of the most important sites of so-called independent art movement, as well as one of the nodes of global neo-avant-garde net.

Exhibits of European Solidarity Centre
