Péter Granasztói was born on 12 August 1968, in Budapest. He studied History and Ethnography at Eötvös Loránd University. He received his DEA Degree at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, France. He completed his PhD in 2006 with a dissertation on the cultural changes of dwellings and residential interiors in Kiskunhalas from 1750–1850. Granasztói has worked at the Museum of Ethnography since 1996. He was the museologist of the Collection of Public Records, and the Manuscript and Slide Collections. He is currently the director of the Ethnological Archives. His main research fields include: interiors, digitalisation, consumer culture, fashion, and the social history of Hungary in the 18th and 19th century.
